Hi friends! Remember when I did that Freaky Friday Files post about "A list of Creepy Things I've learned recently"? Well, I was thinking about that the other day and I wanted to do one a bit more wholesome, so this blog post is dedicated to ALL the cool things I've learned about recently. Please enjoy.

Cool Things I've Learned About Recently
There is pizza crust dip. I'd never heard of it but we ordered pizza the other night while on holiday in Daylesford, and the pizza shop gave us dip for our crusts. It was pretty nice!
Ghost Apples - These occur when it's really really cold, the surface of the apple freezes over and then the apple decays and falls out - leaving ghost apples (basically ice versions of an apple).
There is a reason that Easter Chocolate tastes nicer, and that's to do with how we perceive it, how thin it is, and the fact that when we bite into it, more cocoa notes are released. It's also to do with the shape, like our brains go "oooh, cute bunny," and so it tastes nicer. Check out "this study".
There is allegedly a new colour called "olo" - and only five people in the world have seen it. The five people who saw this colour described it as a "blue-ish-green of unprecedented saturation". This was research for people with colour blindness. However, seeing the colour olo can only be achieved by retinal stimulation. You can read more "here". I'm interested to see how more research into this area allows colour blind people to see colour and what it might mean for the colour spectrum.
Vespa is Italian for wasp, and the Vespa scooter is called Vespa because it sounds like a wasp - I learned this on QI.
Nutmeg can be a h*llucinogenic (I'm censoring because I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say on my blog). My Nana used to put nutmeg on Instant Pudding and I wouldn't eat it as a kid so she'd say "it's got that funny brown stuff" to let me know if I could or couldn't eat the pudding.
Daylesford was initially called "Wombat" - there's A LOT of wombat references here.
There was a cat called Creme Puff who lived to 38 years old. And the longest "allegedly" living dog was called Bobi, who lived until 31. The oldest proven dog was Bluey the cattle dog, who lived to 29. I wonder if the TV show Bluey is based on her or maybe just named after her? It's very good because it challenges gender norms.
There was a game show in 2012 called K*ller Karaoke. WTF? Contestants had to sing live while being disrupted by terrifying things. It only got 2 seasons so I have no idea if it was good or not but it sounds stupid. Then again, we have things like Wipe Out and MAFS, so who really knows?
There are Spaghetti Donuts - which are a combination of spaghetti and donuts.
There is a Mandela Effect from The Titanic. I always thought Rose said "Paint me like one of your French girls" but she says "Draw me like one of your French girls". Logically, draw makes sense, but idk why I remember that way? And apparently other people do too.
There is a weather phenomenon known as "red sprites" - basically like lightning but they appear as red-orange flashes. They were first photographed in 1989.
The inventor of Pringles - Fred Baur - some of his ashes are in a Pringles can, buried. He requested this.
Neil Armstrong won an honorary Gold Logie in 1970.
There is a town called "Truth or Consequences" in New Mexico. The town was originally called Hot Springs and was inspired to be renamed after a 1950s game show called Truth or Consequences was held on NBC Radio.
Apples are 25% air, and that's why they can float.
I've known about this one for a while, but McDonald's created bubblegum-flavoured broccoli. Why? As a motivation to get kids to eat healthier but it didn't really work because adding a sweet flavour to broccoli doesn't make it more appealing to kids.
There's a word for the lint that collects at the bottom of your pockets - gnurr.
Dried corn cobs used to be used as toilet paper before it was invented.
The Kit Kat filling is made up of broken Kit Kats - mind blown!
