Day 52 of "Figuring it Out" - Migraines Suck

Updated: 5 days ago

Kia Ora friends and fam and other people who might happen to stumble across this blog. You are now part of my cult. Just kidding, it's not a cult, you are now my friend! Maybe it's a friend cult LOL. No seriously, I am kidding. Anyway, does anyone remember that website Stumble Upon? It was like a website you could go to and take you to random things generated on your interests. It was really cool. I don't think it exists anymore.

Today, the Melbourne weather is absolutely gorgeous. I think it hit about 24 degrees at one point today, but unfortunately, my migraine lingered into today. It might be hormonal but it was really bad this morning and I missed out on a few things I was supposed to do today, but at least the rest was productive and I managed to get outside for a walk with Luke and see some sunshine (hopefully that helps). It really sucks when you miss out on things because of your health but hey, we persevere.

I was also thinking today that this "prolonged existential crisis" I've been having since 2020 or maybe even 2019 (so 3+ years) has become part of my personality. I always joke about it but I always seem to find myself at the right time at the right place so maybe things will start to look a bit less existential in the coming months. I also feel like there are so many things I want to try in life like where do I start? Do I just dedicate a day to doing something different or trying something new and see where I end up? Honestly, I have no idea but welcome to the journey. Let's go on it together. There have been new things I've tried since living in Melbourne like new foodie spots and also I don't think I would have been as interested in canva/graphic design if I hadn't experimented with it at my old job so that's a positive. I've also sent a few of my slam poems off to see if we can get any of them published but I think the wait list is on there. Oh, also blogging! That's something new. Maybe we'll upgrade to vlogging when I'm feeling more confident in life. More travel is also on the cards for summer so maybe that's a way to ease into something like that. I have no idea if people would be interested in me talking to a camera or not. Maybe I'll try to make more mini vlogs on the social media like Insta and TikTok and see how we go. One of my goals for 2023 was to get 5000 followers on Instagram and I'm still sitting at around 3600 so hopefully we can get that up because I've done so well on my goals list this year.

As we go into the evening, I feel a bit more relaxed and I think with all the pain killers I've taken today, my headache is finally starting to settle. Luke's in charge of dinner tonight so I think it's steak, mashed potatoes, and a salad which sounds good for a spring evening when the weather is nice. I'm kinda craving a barbecue now. We don't have a backyard (only a front yard on a main road so a BBQ isn't something we want to have in this current house, but maybe when we inevitably have to move). And tomorrow, Luke and I are heading down to Phillip Island as a pre-birthday trip to relax and see some wildlife so I'm really hoping my headache is basically gone tomorrow because I want to enjoy our mini trip. We've also booked our post-Christmas roadie around the Great Ocean Road which we're really looking forward to as well as we've booked some quirky little Air Bnbs and I'm excited to see that part of Victoria as well.

Anyway, so that I'm not staring at my laptop screen (grateful for personal laptops that you can put flux on LOL - couldn't do that before), I'll end today's blog there! But for today's question, I want to know, have you ever been in the newspaper, on TV, or gone viral on social media, and what for? Let me know in the comments below. I was on the kids tv show "What Now" once when I was little on an Easter Special and when I watched it back, I had chocolate all down my t-shirt and face HAHAHAHAHA. I also won a drawing competition for a show on CTV (RIP, CTV building) where I drew a kiwi and it was my draft drawing but was better so nana sent it in and I won a family pass to Willowbank which was pre cool! I feel like I was also in the newspaper once but I'd have to ask mum for more details as my brain is a bit foggy on that one. Anyway, I'm rambling now.

See you later alligator!

Ka kite,

Much love,

Ash xx

I know I'm bending the question slightly but... my grandparents were friends with one of the radio announcers on a country radio station so my brother and I got to go on for a segment when I was 8 or 9 which was cool. I also submitted an entry in an Essendon junior member art show when I was 6 and won a $50 voucher. That was a lot of money back then and you could actually get decent footy gear. Nowadays you'd be lucky to get a t-shirt. Anyway, my art was on the website and in an exhibition in the Essendon hall of fame so that was cool too
