Day 66 of "Figuring it Out" - Sunday "Sleighs"

Updated: Oct 3

Kia Ora friends! Happy Sunday! How are we going today? Apart from a few stomach cramps today, I had another pretty good health day today. However, I think I may have pushed myself WAY too far because I just sat down to write my daily blog post at 7pm and a bad headache just hit me so hopefully tonight I get a really good sleep, no weird dreams, and wake up feeling super refreshed.

Today, Luke and I started some of our Christmas shopping. It's the first year I've actually bought my own (well our own now), Christmas decor that wasn't just what my parents or grandparents had when I was little so I felt like a bit of a little kid in a lolly shop. We started at Highpoint Shopping Centre and went early because I get super overwhelmed there because I mean I'm from a small place and it's so big, like if I don't go there with Luke, I get so lost but we got our big Christmas tree, started on some presents, and also lots of decor which we will put up soon. So hopefully we can make some cute Christmas social content and take some themed Christmas photos and be all cheesy. We then needed to get a few other things so decided to also go to Airport West and go to Kmart and Target there, which was good because target had some amazing Chrissie decorations! I've done over 11,000 steps today so I was really proud of myself for that because I've been barely getting to 4000 a day lately, and walking is the one exercise I'm relying on. I'm really looking forward to getting back into daily workouts because the IBS bloating and weight gain definitely is playing on my mind, but it's out of my control right now (and no, that's not an excuse, it's from the side effects of all the meds and how they interact with IBS, health stuff is weird AF).

We got back home around 5pm and then had a few more errands to do at home, like get the washing in, and put some random sh*t away that was in the lounge and then it was time for dinner. Tonight I made spicy paprika chicken with potatoes, general veg, and a basic salad but it all turned out better than I thought it was going to and now we're catching up on some Dessert Masters that we missed last week so hopefully we finish this episode in time for the one tonight. Oooh I also ordered some comfy pants online that are meant to be coming this week - because that's something that's so important when you're struggling with periods of excessive bloating, is having the comfiest pants (tight pants DO not do well with IBS) and when the flares are as bad as they are now, that's what you want. So I will keep you updated about my favourite comfy pants - maybe that can be a whole blog post for me one day, just talking about the best pants for IBS sufferers.

I went to start writing about what Luke and I had on this week, but then I realised we hadn't actually planned too many things this week at all and my brain got super confused. Oh, I also forgot to say earlier that we got our 2024 diaries for next year (which is aways super exciting - I don't know why I like diary shopping so much, I guess because I like writing things down and planning in pretty colours). Luke got a plain black one and I got an orange one. Both from typo. I really like where typo has gone with it's quality - as once upon a time in my last year of high school, I had a casual job at Typo so I can definitely see how far it's come since 2013 (10 years?). I should get better at maths. Anyway, after asking Luke what our plans were for this week, we have a bit more structure set for the rest of the week!

Tomorrow, I plan on doing some social content, writing, and looking for one last Christmas decoration online that Luke wants to get and we also need to do our groceries. We could have done them tonight but we were both just too exhausted haha. And I have a pretty free week other than that and Luke has a wedding in the evening on Saturday to go to. Hopefully this week I can also get some bigger walks in, do some good cooking, and get a decent amount of rest in also. We haven't even planned our Wednesday date night yet - maybe that can be our Christmas decoration night.

For today's question, I want to know, "what's your favourite part about Christmas?" Let me know in the comments below. For me, it's going Christmas Light Hunting. Luke and I did it last year and some of the ones we saw were EPIC. So hopefully we can go again this year and find some even more amazing ones because I definitely want to take videos and photos doing that.

Alrighty, I am gonna head off and go and rest because my head still hurts so just a quick personal life update blog today. Thank ya'll for reading! I'll see you tomorow!

Ka kite,

Much love,

Ash xx

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas, so the family and food aspects of Christmas are my favourites. Decorating the tree with my parents and brother, making Christmas sweets with family - both Indian and Western, watching Carols by Candlelight after Christmas Eve Mass, opening gifts in our PJ's at 6.30 in the morning on Christmas Day, eating your bodyweight in turkey, ham, all the trimmings, not to mention Christmas pudd and all the sweets, and then completely regretting it for the next two weeks (not to mention the leftovers last that long 😅). It's such a special time of year
