Day 71 of "Figuring it Out" - Fairy Bread Day!

Updated: 2 days ago

Kia Ora friends and fam! Happy FRIYAY! Are you excited for the weekend? I sure am. Melbourne weather today is super humid outside, the sun was out for most of the morning but the afternoon turned quite stormy and still humid - I think there's meant to be thunderstorms coming and I am here for the rain. It feels like it hasn't rained in so long and it's making me feel nice and relaxed today. The humidity is a bit annoying though - especially if you're like me and have naturally curly hair.

Last night I had one of the worst sleeps of my life, some people have been commenting on certain things on my posts and ya know when they just rub you the wrong way? Well, anyway, some stupid pointless comments really got to me last night because I think I've finally found somewhat of a purpose and joy in life of making social content. I think this is really important to have, especially when you're on a health and well-being career break. And, I know that these comments shouldn't get to me, and I didn't plan on writing about them today, but the fact that I lost sleep over something so small really got to me. So I just wanted to say, I'm doing things that bring me joy and inspire magic right now and that's bloody important, no matter what anyone else's opinion is. Luke also said something to me this morning that was really special and that was that as long as you are putting your joy and creativity out into the world, the world is 1) a better place and 2) a more beautiful place. That really resonated with me and is something I want to hold onto. Anyway, enough of that. Just do what makes you happy because life's too short not to.

This morning I woke up at 6am because my insomnia had defo set it and then we got up around 7am, had some brekkie, and went for a walk. And because today is Fairy Bread Day, I wanted to do something special for it! So I made a cute video about how to make fairy bread - you can see it "here", which I'm really proud of because I am trying to get my confidence up in the making video/vlogging land and I think slowly I'm getting there. It was super nostalgic to make fairy bread when you haven't had it since you were like 5. It's also for a good cause too! To help raise money for foster kids in Australia. So cool. But if you want to learn how to make Fairy Bread, pls check out my video, it means a lot!

And here's a pic of me with said fairy bread! So delicious and so yummy! Credit to Luke for putting up with me telling him how to take photos and videos and staying calm when I get frustrated or nervous. So yeah, I worked on that this morning and then I managed to get in two relatively long walks (before the rain started) but I did start to burn out at about 2:30pm and just needed to go have a laydown and fell asleep for a pretty long nap. I had a migraine before I fell asleep (prolly from lack of sleep last night) but it started to subside once I woke up from my nap so I'm very thankful for that today. But I hate when you wake up from a nap and feel all groggy inside. I think I had some pretty whack dreams too but they've gone from my memory bank rn - hopefully they come back to me soon.

This weekend, Luke will have cricket tomorrow (if it's not cancelled from the rain) and a wedding to go to for one of his mates and I'll probably do some housework and work on some of my social media projects if I'm feeling up to it and then I think Luke wants to do a bit more Christmas shopping on Sunday (like get his family some gifts and things).

But for some extra celebrations for fairy bread day today, I thought I'd share some recipes inspired by fairy bread. Let me know what you think of these ones (and if you make any).

I'm definitely getting hungry now reading all these recipes! For today's question, I thought I'd ask two questions! 1. What's your favourite way to eat fairy bread? Do you like the traditional way or perhaps you're more of a novelty fan of one of these recipes above? Let me know in the comments below. For me, I'm definitely a traditional fairy bread girly because of the nostalgia factor.

2. What's something that's nostalgic to you from your childhood? Let me know in the comments below. For me, it's my Nintendo 64 games and going down to Blockbuster to pick up a rented game for the week as well as having a Tamagotchi and hoping you wouldn't kill it. LOL.

Anyway, that's all from me today. See ya'll tomorrow.

Much love,

Ash xx

  1. I'm definitely a fairy bread traditionalist - really cheap white bread (the same white bread you use for cheap snags), butter and 100's and 1000's

  2. Old footy and cricket footage, certain music, seeing people with 2000's haircuts like blond tips that every single white dude had back in the day, going to the beach for some reason, making certain foods, so many other things
