Checking in on my "30 things I want to do before I'm 30" list

It's officially 1 month until I'm no longer in my 20s, and it feels very scary turning 30. I don't know why, it's just a number. I think I just worry that I haven't achieved everything that I wanted to by now. Anyway, I thought we could take a look at my "30 things I want to do before I'm 30" list and see what I've done, what I haven't done, and what things have changed. Gah, I hope this makes sense.

As always, I'll highlight the ones I've achieved and write some stuff next to them.


  1. Make a significant dent in my student loan - I think somewhat, but the interest is crazy.

  2. Travel to more countries (I really want to go to Iceland, Mexico, and Canada) - I haven't done this one yet, but we have travel plans to go to Vancouver, Canada, next year in their summer (our winter).

  3. Get a cute doggo (a corgi called Waffles) - We got a corgi, but we didn't call him Waffles, obviously. We called him Benji. Fun fact, he picked his own name by us going down a list, and he responded to Benji.

  4. Start a YouTube channel - Wooo, I did this one, I'm not famous LOL, but I make some content. You can check out my channel "here".

  5. Save 100,0000 - I haven't done this one because life is super expensive LOL.

  6. Find my purpose in life - I think I'm halfway there, so I'm unsure whether to highlight this one or not.

  7. Get really good at baking and fancy icing techniques - Another halfway one, but I think I can tick this one off because I bake a lot.

  8. Do a lot more long-exposure photography (e.g., astro, sunrises, sunsets) - Yes, I think so.

  9. Monetize my blog and social media platforms - Woooo yes!

  10. Get 10,000 Instagram followers - LOL no.

  11. Try out ghost-hunting - I haven't done this one yet.

  12. "Astral Project" during a meditation session - Yes, I've done this.

  13. Read more than 10 books a year - Yes, woo, I'm at like 42 books this year, I think.

  14. Fine-tune my fashion style - I'm not sure about this one yet because I just wear comfy clothes.

  15. Become more wine-literate and do more wine-tasting - I think yes for this one.

  16. Learn to manage my IBS symptoms a lot better - Yes, but now there are some more things to add to the list of chronic health issues (suspected POTS, maybe an MPN like ET).

  17. Learn more Te Reo Maori (and learn where the macrons are on Wix or how to add them) - Unfortunately, I haven't done this one as much as I'd like to.

  18. Learn to paint pretty pictures - I wish :(

  19. Learn how to make a cocktail - YAY! I did this one!

  20. Learn how to make marshmallows, home-made chips (crisps), and replicate the hash brown from Maccas - I haven't done this one yet, but Like made crisps once so can he tick that off, haha?

  21. Take my partner Luke on a full roadie of my homeland land New Zealand - We've done some of it, so I'm going to tick this one off.

  22. Get another tattoo - I haven't done this one.

  23. Get to level 50 in Pokémon Go - This is another really hard one because the levels take so long, I'm only at 43.

  24. Do more driving around Melbourne to gain my confidence in driving here - Yes woo!

  25. Give up caffeine - My goal for this one was not to be reliant on it, and I think that's a win, I don't drink as much coffee, and I like to opt for matchas and iced drinks now, so I'm gonna say yes.

  26. Learn how to garden better - Yes and no lol.

  27. Try out glamping + a spa self-care retreat/weekend - Still on the bucket list, but we did go to Alba spa last year.

  28. Have a better skincare routine - Yes!

  29. Learn more about AI technology - Yes!

  30. Practice gratitude more regularly - Yes!


So if I've counted right, I've done 17/30, woo!


I don't want to force myself to achieve the rest of these before my 30th birthday because I think that would be impossible, but I think I've done an okay job of getting through the list. And I think more stuff will be ticked off next year. I don't wanna blame the health stuff, but some of it has gotten in the way. You can read my health stuff "here".
