Kia Ora everyone! Happy Saturday! How's your day going so far? I hope it's going absolutely fantastical and you are having the best day ever. Melbourne weather today is rainy AGAIN (surprise surprise) but still stupidly humid - it's really annoying because I associate rain with feeling cold not getting sweaty and wet when I go outside haha. I also associate rainy days with watching or reading creepy stuff. Like really really cold rainy days are the BEST days to wrap up on the couch with a cosy blanket, hot chocolate, some cookies, and a horror movie. But it feels a bit weird doing that because it's humid as heck!
Anyway, today hasn't been the best day for me mentally. I woke up with a headache and then fell asleep on the couch after breakfast and have just been feeling a bit down all day, but I'm starting to pick back up a little this afternoon, which is good. I think that it's just been one of those days and I definitely pushed myself WAY too much yesterday. I got the majority of the cleaning done, did a workout, and went for a date night with Luke to Grazeland and we also went Christmas Shopping. It was a really great night but I also pulled a muscle in my side and ended up taking my meds way too late so I think that's why my body was a bit all over the place today. As it's raining, Luke's cricket game was cancelled so we ended up watching Sir David Attenborough's doco "A Life on Our Planet 2020" which was sad but really good and if you're interested in saving our earth from total destruction, I suggest you watch it! It also made me really want to go see the animals so maybe we'll do that tomorrow depending on how I'm feeling, maybe maybe not. Can't promise anything. Also the weather is so
Also random side note, on of my videos on my YT channel is randomly gaining traction today and people are writing really nice comments on it. I did not expect that but it's really nice to see that it's not just a community of trolls and that people are supportive online. Something I've learned to take on is constructive criticism from all my years studying but hate comments are something that still get to me and so do condescending comments and I know that's something that I have to work on myself and it'll take time but I just have to try and be the bigger person and not let them affect me because those things do happen. But anyway, it was just nice to get some cute messages from strangers online being supportive.
Let's get to Grazeland! So for those of you who don't know, Grazeland is the ULTIMATE foodie's place in Melbourne. It's located a short walk from Spotswood station and is right next to Scienceworks. It costs $4 per adult to get in and then food/drink costs on top of that. I've been there 3 times so far since I've lived in Melbourne and it's still one of my favourite places to go. If you love food like me, then it's definitely a place for you to go to! It's also pet friendly so you can take your doggos with you and last night Luke and I met a doggo called Pinot and a doggo called Whiskey. They were too cute.
We ate:
Camembert croquettes from Frencheese (these were SO DELICIOUS, I almost wanted to get a second serving)
Arancini balls from That Arancini Guy (these were okay, they were cooked well and had a good amount of cheese but there were different flavours and we couldn't really tell them apart)
Kafta from Mr Toum - which was really good Lebanese but we were disappointed because we recently had epic Lebanese food at Bekka and were left craving that. However, for street food it was an A+
Drinks from one of the bars - alcoholic ginger beer and an alcoholic lemon squash beer. Funny story about the alcoholic ginger beer. Luke got this last time and I tried it and it tasted so good that I drunk most of his drunk and then he got me my own one, and it wasn't as good (so goes to show that someone else's food/drink always tastes better than yours lol). AND the lemon squash tasted like what I expected Hard Solo to taste like but IMO Hard Solo really sucks.
Candy Girl Dutch Pancakes from Little Miss Dutchy (which don't seem to have a website or socials) but they were amazing. 10/10 for me.
Luke also had a chocolate milkshake but I can't remember where that was from and I forgot to take a photo of it
But let me know what foodie places you've tried at Grazeland below!
After Grazeland, we decided on the fly that we wanted to do some Christmas Light Hunting and we were not disappointed. We had a list of a few we found on "Christmas Light Search Australia" and went around Taylor's Hill and we saw so many we weren't expecting to and there were just so many cool ones. I'll post a few photos below but I'm working on a video so I'll post that once it's done and I think we're going to do a few more suburbs later in the week. Christmas Light Hunting is definitely one of my favourite things to do in December and some of the ones around Melbourne are pretty epic. Also, if you're reading this from little old CHCH land, then I highly suggest you check out Shands Road Lights if you've never been before. They're always a great time!
I don't think I have much else to report today other than that I'm super tired and wish this headache would go away. Oh, and I really desperately need to pick up my script tomorrow because I only have like 3 pills left from one of my meds hahaahaha whoops.
Anyway, for today's question, I want to know, what's your favourite word at the moment? Let me know in the comments below and what it means. Mine is probably Sesquipedalian - which just means long words. Idk why, I just like it hehe!
Have a wonderfully epic weekend! Much love, Ash xx
