Unfiltered Thoughts: Log #6
Kia Ora friends! Happy Tuesday! I am honestly having a bit of writer's block lately, so I thought, why not try a stream-of-consciousness-style blog - which I've been calling my unfiltered thoughts logs.

Unfiltered Thoughts: Log #6
I feel like SOOOOO much has happened since I've sat down to write one of these unfiltered thoughts posts. Obviously, Luke and I went to Canada (Vancouver/Victoria, BC) to meet my pen pal and her partner - we had so much fun, and it was a great trip. I am still behind on YouTube content from our trip LOL. While we were away, Benji had a little chafing injury from his harness and had to get sedated at the vet, but he's all good now, and his fur is almost back to normal. It was a bit scary, but he's okay. He's the best dog. He's also losing some weight because he has escaped from his collar a couple of times - silly Benji. I am glad he doesn't run away, though. He's just very cheeky!

In regard to health issues, the honest answer is that we are still in limbo with what's going on, and I keep getting fat-shamed by a lot of specialists. I mean, what happens to the people bigger than me if I am getting this? Like, yes, I get that I need to lose some weight, but to me, I think it's a symptom rather than the cause of all my problems; but hey, I guess I could be wrong. I have been seeing a rheumatologist who is pretty vague about what's going on and told me to experiment with an anti-inflammatory med to see what it does to my blood markers. I completed a 10-day course, and it completely took my fatigue away, but I don't think you can take it long-term. It also dropped my heart rate right down, and I felt like the "normal" energetic version of me. I don't really know what's next with that, but I have an appointment with him next week, then a GP appointment the following week, and then I see the POTS specialists in December, which is SO much more expensive than I thought. So yeah, we're still in limbo, and I don't have much to report. Fingers crossed we can get some health updates soon with some actual answers!!
Yesterday morning, I did my fasting blood test for the rheumatologist, and the first place I went to wasn't accepting email referrals, which was so annoying. So this nice lady took me to the other place that did it because I didn't know where to go, and the nurse who took my blood was very confused by my name - she said she'd never heard it before (weird). I don't know if it was the spelling or what, but anyway. Then Luke, Benji, and I went out for brunch afterwards to replenish my body post-blood test. We went to one of our favourite spots - Convoy in Moonee Ponds. Benji likes it there because he always gets pets from the staff, and they make yummy puppachinos. I also LOVE their salt and vinegar breakfast potatoes. Last night we also watched that movie Cop This, which I thought was silly, but I think New Zealand Spy (the TV show) was a lot better. I don't know why I'm comparing them; completely different people made them. I think maybe it's because they had a similar "vibe".

I also couldn't sleep last night. I am not sure why, or if my insomnia is coming back because I am a little bit stressed, but I ended up reading some stuff on RBI on Reddit, and there was an interesting post that stuck out to me called "I think I may have seen something I was not supposed to see, but am unsure of what". To paraphrase, the OP lives in a rural neighbourhood somewhere in the United States - a type of area where people wouldn't usually end up if they were lost. OP recently had surgery and so has been having trouble sleeping, so is often awake around 2:30 AM. One day, OP was watching TV around this time and noticed a sedan that pulled up to their neighbour's driveway. The car stopped for 5 minutes, then drove off. OP thought maybe it was someone dropping someone off and didn't think too much of it. Then, OP started to see the car quite regularly. OP explains that if they are up at night, people outside would be able to tell that they are home due to the windows/lighting in their house. One specific night, the sedan showed up, and OP walked over to the window to look out. OP was visible, and the person in the car drove over to OP's driveway. Then everything went dark, and OP saw a guy wearing a balaclava look into the front door; then the guy got back in the car and left (it was also captured on OP's Ring doorbell). OP wasn't sure what was going on, but they did go to talk to the neighbours across the road (we assume two married men) and called the police, but the authorities were not able to do much. When OP spoke to one of their neighbours, OP found out that the neighbours were extremely terrified that this was happening and that they had moved from Texas to escape some sort of uncomfortable living situation. To me, maybe it's a situation where the couple across the road have some sort of stalker - i.e., the person that they lived with previously is holding a grudge and somehow found out where they went. I don't know if a criminal scouting the area is the answer because it seems kinda dumb to go back to the same place every night, and people can see a pattern. I just hope it's not a situation like Jonathon Joss's (RIP to the legend). I also think maybe it's possible that OP's neighbours aren't as nice as OP thinks - it's possible that they aren't who OP thinks they are. Sometimes we don't know the "true" selves of people. I hope it's not that one, and I hope that everyone in this situation is safe.
In other news, Luke and I have been focusing on eating as clean as we possibly can lately - with a focus on the Mediterranean diet (lots of anti-inflammatory foods), like going back to my pescatarian self. If we don't know what's going on with my health, I can focus on what I can control with diet, exercise, and mindfulness. I have been trying to meditate most nights before bed too.
OH, and a weird thing happened the other morning. I was sitting and working at my desk, and then this guy was randomly taking photos of our house outside. I don't know why, but I learned that it's completely legal to do in Australia as long as they don't trespass. The guy didn't look like a real estate agent or the owners of the house; he was wearing pretty casual clothing and was driving a crappy old Toyota. The only thing I can think of is maybe that he's scouting areas for insurance reasons or looking for reference houses for selling reasons. I don't think he was sent from our PM because we recently had an inspection and they took heaps of photos then. It made me feel very uncomfortable. I don't know if he noticed me watching him from the window.
That's all my rambles for today! I hope you enjoyed this post, and as always, thank you for reading!! Much love,
Ash xx
