Kia Ora friends! Happy Friday! I hope you've had a wonderful start to your holidays. Melbourne weather has been absolutely gorgeous outside today, but a little bit windy. I gotta start with today's title though, tomorrow when I reach my daily goal of 100 daily blog posts in a row, I plan on limiting them down to 2-4 x a week to take off some of the pressure, especially as we're headed off to the Great Ocean Road next week + Christmas time, we all deserve a break. I toss and turn with myself taking this career break but I know it's going to open way more opportunities for me and I'm trying to stay as positive as I can right now, even though some days are harder than others.
Last night, Luke and I watched "Elf" because Luke hadn't seen it before and I forgot how sweet that movie is. Also, Zoey Deschanel looks way better as a brunette than a blonde. Anywho, we also did a silly Christmassy photoshoot. I'll add in some photos below (we did some silly photos on ze phone and some good ones on the camera). I felt special knowing that Luke would do a photoshoot like that with me. We also made some stupid social media videos (that turned out to be kinda popular, so that's fun). You can check the YT short out "here".
Some silly phone ones too! I'll post more on Facebook and Instagram over the next few days! Kinda wanna post before Christmas (before it gets too late sorta thing).
Anyway, maybe I'll explore modelling again one day or convince Luke to come on a daytrip around Melbourne and take photos of me (boyfriends of Instagram lol). No no, Luke takes great photos of me (thank you for being patient and listening when I don't explain what I want very well). Hopefully we get lots of awesome sauce content on our roadie next week (I might have to actually take makeup with me and I never do that on road trips because I'm bloody lazy and are usually doing things like hiking so it sweats off easily - ahhh I miss hiking, can't wait to have my energy back).
Anyway, today has been a bit of a right-off for me, we got up early to head out to brunch with one of our friends Gav at North and Eight (such good food there always). I had the Big Brekkie (that Luke helped me finish of course, but I was feeling really hungry this morning), an iced mocha, and then a red splash juice (that went down the tummy quite well - gotta love IBS lol). I'll post some photos below. I actually used the food mode on my phone today and forgot that it's weird but also good for lighting. Food photography is something really good if you wanna learn lighting so maybe I should do more of that.
After brunch, we headed home and caught up on some errands around the house but my body just got so tired after awhile that I needed to have a nap and boy, did I have some weird-as* dreams today. I don't know if it's because Luke accidentally bumped my head or if it was because I had a nap in the afternoon, but they were so weird. Luke also did the lawns and we went for a nice afternoon stroll in the sun (my breathing still isn't 100% so I'm a bit worried about hiking on our trip so hopefully it'll be okay). Luke also worked on his Christmas post that I'll post on here shortly (most likely on Sunday) so that'll be something different for ya'll to read.
Tomorrow, I'm going to do some Christmas baking, make more social content (b/c honestly don't know what else to do right now), Luke has a haircut, and probably catch up on some reading. I also want to keep Thankful Thursday and Freaky Friday a relatively regular thing on the blog - so I'll try do them most weeks. But as it's Friday, let's get into some Freaky Friday things today! So let's head on over to Reddit again! But first, if you are interested in freaky ghost things or what I like to term my own paranormal experiences, I made a YT video that totally deserves way more views than it's gotten. You can check it out "here". Anyway, let's head on over to r/Ghosts as we normally do.

"So my fiancée was at home with our son (per usual) while I was at work, she was in the living room at the time on the phone with her friend when she heard something loudly crash into the floor. it turns out, the bathroom in our bedroom around the corner, one of our frames fell off the wall, the tac was split in half.
I thought eh maybe the tac just gave out. it is what it is.
Literally about 10 minutes ago, my fiancée is making dinner, we have a spare candle on top of the fridge (towards the middle of it) and a plate on the counter. She is in the living room with me, and we heard a loud bang and something glass break. we go in the kitchen, and the candle crashed into the plate and shattered it. what is going on???? all within 2 months."
Tbh, this one seems like they might have a dodgy fridge (how many of us have heard that stupid fridge running joke) or they could live in a place with earthquakes - there's definitely been a rise in these lately. Also sidenote, super interesting how the fact that NZ has had sooo many earthquakes, the fault lines are so damaged that it's correlated to Australia having earthquakes (very interesting but I can't get too scientific, you'd need a seismologist for that). Anyway, I can't find any info on their Reddit profile about where they live so I guess we'll never know!

"So my mirror just fell over from a fixed position and shattered. I cleaned it all up, crushed the dust, and buried it in my gardens soil. Easy peasy, right?!... Nope, following this incident, I got a text from my parent to call them as soon as I received the message, so I did. I was thinking something to do with the holidays and whatnot... but instead, I was greeted with the dreadful news that my grandmother passed away at sometime between 7am and 8am. She was alive at 7am when the facility checked on her in the morning and was sleeping, and then at 8 am, when they went to wake her for breakfast, she was dead. The mirror broke at 7:30 am, that same day. I found out at 12:15pm. I never thought much about the superstitious nonsense and now, after a quick Google search about how and why a mirror could just fall over from a fixed position, randomly, undisturbed, low and behold google results stated "it signifies that death is looming". So I wonder if it was her giving me a sign...? Or just a sign that something happened in general? Welp... there is either something to be said about this because it is factual, in the sense that all of this occurred, or this is one helluva coincidence that is just insane. Does anyone else have any similar stories to share with regards to this happening? At the moment, I am crushed by the loss of my grandmother. Also later that night I heard her calling my name, as she is Italian and didn't speak English well, she had a hard time pronouncing my name and said it very uniquely so i know it was her voice like a disembodied voice... haven't heard anything since, after talking out loud to the voice and saying a prayer for her to be at peace and know that I am okay and I won't forget about her. Anyways....Venting here/ end Rant"
This one is strange and mirrors freak me out, but I also like mirrors at the same time. Have any of you seen that horror movie Oculus? Or the horror movie, Mirrors, for that matter? Those are some freaky movies. Gah, I just learned there's an Oculus 2 coming out in 2024. I don't mind horrors occasionally but they do scare me a lot. However, I still don't get why Blair Witch Project was freaky - is it because it was just that style of horror at the time? I feel like we're oversaturated with that stuff on TikTok now.

With the message that reads:
"So, I was working a job just outside of my city Calgary, Alberta. It was beautiful night out, so I decided to take a picture (Note: I was by myself) I didn't see anything in view, but when I took a picture, I saw a shadow figure and it freaked me out, so I took off. Can anyone explain?"
I mean, this has to be a person right that OP just didn't see? Which a lot of the comments say so, but also a lot of the comments on the post allude to this being a shadow person, which is weird. Although, as a photographer and still a skeptic even though I've had some paranormal experiences myself, it's something to do with the phone's software - and maybe it appeared after OP took the picture inside the camera - bloody hell, that would make one good horror film!

"I am an RN and I worked for our float pool (traveling nurses within the same system). I was floated to the closed (sometimes opened), old "locked/psych unit" that is occasionally used for overflow patients and staffed by float pool when needed. Working night shift, I had a patient ask during night med pass if I could ask housekeeping to not empty her trash in the middle of the night as it woke her up the night before. I thought, weird, but okay.
I called housekeeping, and they said they don't have anyone cleaning on nights on the overflow unit. This patient was fully oriented, walkie talkie, not weird at all. Not a sundowner in any way whatsoever. 3am rolls around, and the patient rings her callbell, and as I'm walking down the hall to her room, the double doors (locked-requires a badge swipe) close. I answered her bell, and she is mad that she asked for housekeeping not to come in, and they did. She said they emptied her trash, and she heard the can open and the trash bag russle. I profusely apologize, and insist it won't happen again. I call housekeeping who again stated they don't have someone covering our floor at night because it's just an overflow unit. So I call security since the doors are badge access only. They pulled the badge swipe logs for the doors and no one had accessed doors after the kitchen staff picked up the dirty trays at 9pm. They pulled footage of the hall corridor and can clearly see one of the doors open halfway, close, and not a single person in sight!
We still have no explanation to this day and it's just well known that the 11th floor is haunted! Apparently it was making the psych patients go crazier, so they moved the unit to a new wing of the hospital and only use this floor now for short term overflow!"
Hospitals are terrifying! I feel like as a lot of people unfortunately pass away in hospitals, they're the most likely place to be haunted. Hey, Sam and Colby, go do a ghost hunt in a hospital (not an abandoned one, one that still is alive). Although, tbf, they probably can't do that as it would disturb everyone in the hospital so maybe don't do that, but it would be pretty interesting.

"I wanted to share this story somewhere. A few weeks ago I was on FaceTime with a friend at around midnight, just walking around my house. I went up the stairs with the lights off and when I reached the top my friend said "who was that person behind you?" I thought she was pranking me but she insisted she saw someone. She thought it might be a family member and was shocked I didn't acknowledge them. She said it looked like a middle-age man with shoulder length hair. I showed her the stairs with the lights on and there was nothing there that she could have mistaken it as. About 30 minutes later, my dog ran upstairs into my room, which he never does, especially late at night, unless he's scared of something (like the vacuum).
Then I remembered that about 10 years ago as a kid, a friend of mine who always claimed to have paranormal experiences was sleeping over. I was asleep already, and as she was laying down she saw a ghost with a similar description in the SAME PLACE on my stairs. She said it slowly walked towards her and then she fell asleep.
My family and I have never had any encounters. My house is also nearly 100 years old. I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts but this has definitely creeped me out. I hesitate to get midnight snacks now for sure."
This one is freaky and probably my favourite story from today. Which one was your favourite?
So, I tried to make this one a bit of a longer post today and tomorrow being day 100, is gonna be extra special (idk how, but it will be). I'll probably also upload another proper YT video to my channel - I'm kinda stuck between the mystery soda machine one and my masters thesis deep dive. I am proud of my masters thesis but the video is like 1 hour long and is me reading a lot, whereas the mystery soda machine one is like 7 minutes long and might be more interesting. Anyway, I'll see how I feel tomorrow with which one I go with first!
For today's QOD, I want to know, what do you want for Christmas? Let me know in the comments below. For me, I just want some chocolate and slippers hahaha (so boring). I think I gave Luke a list and he gave me a list because it's our first Christmas where we get to wake up together. I just hope I don't get any early-af morning calls from NZ haha (I appreciate it, but also, I wanna sleep in haha). Luke's already said he's gonna be up at 6am, so call his phone ;) gosh, I don't remember the last time I got up that early on Christmas - it was a long time ago. I've always loved Christmas, but also when you have some health conditions and insomnia half the time, a sleep in doesn't hurt.
I hope you enjoyed today's blog post! I shall see you tomorrow for DAY 100! That's crazy - maybe one day I can do 100 days of vlogs or something (maybe vlogmas next year, we'll see what happens). 2024 is gonna be a wild ride - that's for sure.
Thank you so much for reading today's blog and thank you for continually coming back! I appreciate it so so much. Keep reading, keep commenting, and keep smiling.
Ka kite,
Much love,
Ash xx
