My Joyful June 2024 Life Update

Hi friends! Yep, I've been doing monthly updates for a while now and this month there is no excuse to get one out. So, what's been happening for Ashy, Benji, and Luke? Let's get into it!

  • Benji is now completely toilet trained and house trained woo! We are over 50 days no accidents and have left him on his own a few times - he just sleeps because he's sad we're not here. It does make me so happy when we drive into the garage and can see him run to the stairs to greet us because he knows we just got home.

  • We celebrated Luke's 28th birthday with a housewarming + party and then a dinner out at Windy Hill with his family (although I think it's funny every time we go there, there's something to complain about). We also got two cakes. I felt a little sad as a lot of my friends were really busy that night so couldn't make it to our housewarming/party.

  • We did a lot of baking including cheesecake cups, caramel tarts, rocky road, and we made sangria! I will link the recipes.

  • My best performing blog post was the June 2024 horoscopes one "here". Should I write more?

  • Benji is doing super well at obedience school! Woohoo! We're slowly getting better at loose-leash walking.

  • I'm up to day 178 of my daily gratitude list (as of writing this post).

  • I had a dream where someone was doing a drive-by sh**ting of our house, and we had a lot of eggshells on our counter and then we hid behind the kitchen counter. I have no idea what that means. Maybe something about resilience. Gah, I hate that word.

  • I got a lot of dental work done (ugh, always, hopefully no more nerve damage). And thank f*ck for health insurance because it makes it significantly cheaper.

  • We saw Jerry Seinfeld live (and it was better than I expected). I don't agree with some of his views on war, because I don't think anyone should be harmed literally for no reason. Like literally stop k*illing innocent civilians and children! But it was funnier than I expected, he was very quick and I did like his opening act Mario (spoiler alert, I preferred him over Jerry). I think I'll always prefer British, Australian, and New Zealand humour over American humour (sorry not sorry).

  • I had a migraine for nearly a whole week - it was horrible!

  • I watched the show "Gruen" for the first time and absolutely loved it. I want to go back and watch them all.

  • We found out that my mum is only going to get 2 weeks' notice for her surgery in the next 3 months. So I dunno what's gonna happen with that but we'll see.

  • I've been struggling with the cold a bit (I dunno why I like the cold, but maybe it's because of my circulation).

  • Someone made a purchase from my digital print shop - thank you! Please keep purchasing from my shop "here" - it really helps out the upkeep of my blog. And I am trying to work out an ebook I am going to add there too!

  • I'm really proud of how my thumbnail aesthetic is changing on YouTube - see one of my latest vlogs "here".

  • I made a blog/social media digital content calendar on Canva! I will try to stick to it haha.

  • I tried an iced spiced chai latte for the first time ever (it was like cinnamon overload). This was from the cafe "Jack B. Nimble" which had yummy toasties but an average eggs bene.

  • Benji had a play date with a doggo called Sadie who was the sweetest (one of Luke's friends doggos).

  • My social battery has definitely depleted this past month that's for sure.

  • I have been lacking inspiration regarding my photography but more inspiration regarding vlogging and content creation if that makes sense. It kinda gives me more purpose.

  • We headed out to Craigieburn one night to pick up a product from Facebook marketplace for a friend back in NZ (that was such a nightmare, but hopefully it'll be over soon).

  • We watched the Jonestown documentary "Cult Massacre: One Day in Jonestown" which was really good, but also just really sad. I don't think a lot of people realised what actually happened.

  • We got an email to say we're getting our routine inspection next month, idk why it made me feel really anxious (I'm a clean person though so idk what the issue would be).

  • I also made Luke watch "Team America: World Police" - maybe I can convince him to watch an episode of South Park now. Who knows?

  • We were gifted a decanter (thank you Gav + Ryan).

  • We had the Detector Inspector people come to check out our smoke alarms and apparently one has a water leak LOL.

  • Luke and I tried some new takeaway places (including Cookhouse Burgers and El Jannah). It's safe to say we were quite disappointed in both. Make sure you sign up to my mailing list on the home page if you want to find out more about that!

Check out some previous Life Updates

Anyway, bit of a shorter one this month but I'll see you very soon! It kinda feels like nothing has happened but also at the same time, a lot has happened (I've probably been dissociating a lot).

Much love,

Ash xoxo

You don’t really like American humor? Gasp! As an American, I’m completely offended! 😂 But in all seriousness I understand you completely. It makes sense that you would relate more to the humor of your culture. You mentioned you’ve been feeling sick this past week. I hope you’re starting to feel a little better. I wish your mother all the best with her surgery, and happy birthday to Luke! Also, congratulations on potty training Benji! The hard work is paying off! Fun post over all! Thanks for sharing!

Don’t worry! I was joking! I’m happy you’re getting better and getting lots of sunlight! I’m always cooped up in my house so I don’t think I get enough sunlight. I’m practically a hermit!
