April 2025 Life Updates
We went to two comedy shows for the Melbourne Comedy Festival: Sammy J and Gillian Cosgriff, and both were great. For Gillian Cosgriff's show, we got to sit in the front, which never happens to us, and I actually got picked on hehe I didn't mind, she sang about me, and I think she even acknowledged her own bias about only children hehe.
We had some issues with our PM and inspection stuff, when we changed over PM's, they said that an inspection was due for our house, but our old PM completed one in February, so it wasn't due for another 6 months. We thought we had sorted that out, but the assistant PM still showed up at our house the day it wasn't meant to be done - so Luke said we had one in February, and he left. It was a very odd situation. The PM has apologised, but things felt weird.
It was daylight savings in Melbourne (same for NZ). The way I remember how it works is spring forward, fall back. I know we say Autumn but it doesn't work if you go "Autumn, back" hahahaahah.
Benji and Frankie had a sleepover at our house - Benji was very well behaved (to prepare for when Luke's parents are in Europe). And while they were here, I did my first Instagram Live - it didn't last long, but we had fun. I have had done a few more since so I think I am getting better at them.
The YouTube videos I put out are as follows: The Dark Side of Influencer Culture // 24 Shocking Myths You Still Believe (Debunked!) // The Bunny Man Urban Legend
The Freaky Friday Files I put out are as follows: Flannan Isles Lighthouse Mystery // The Watcher House // The Easter Sunday Massacre // The 2016 Clown Sightings
The books I have read are as follows:
1. 488 Rules for Life - Kitty Flanagan.
2. Dark Psychology Secrets - Damy Manuel.
3. The Forest of Lost Souls - Dean Koontz.
4. The Answer is NO - Frederick Backman.
5. Sometimes I Lie - Alice Feeney. 6. The Dictionary of Lost Words - Pip Williams.
You can check out my April books review post "here."
TV Shows that Luke and I have been enjoying are as follows: Sam Pang Tonight, Gogglebox, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Shaun Micallef's Mad as Hell, Masterchef Australia, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Claire Hooper's House of Games, and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
TV Shows that I have been enjoying are as follows: Tracker (2nd half of S2, finally), The Studio, & Daredevil: Born Again. Pretty much the same as last month - I am very behind on watching stuff. I want to be able to watch The Last of Us, but I'm so scared of zombies, like I could never do The Walking Dead.
I made Cookies and Cream Ice Cream - you can check out my recipe on Eats With Ash "here". I also made limoncello sorbet but the consistency wasn't perfect. Keep an eye out on Eats With Ash for when I write my recipe up.
Luke bought us matching Bluey pyjamas (winter fleece ones).
I got my hair coloured (blonde foils) and was really happy with the colour (thank you to my hairdresser Shaun).

I started my EMDR therapy and it made me soo tired, it's very strange and a little bit grumpy, but it's a process, so it's going to be interesting how it goes over all.
I had my last B12 shot, and my doctor wants me to test for Crohn's, so that will be interesting - hopefully I just have IBS but I'll keep you updated. I'm kinda putting all the samples off because I don't know if I wanna know. The IBS diagnosis was a lot, and I went through so much back in CHCH with that.
We spent Easter Sunday with Luke's family for lunch, and we went to Chiba for Luke's brother's birthday.
We went to Daylesford for a week - travel content coming VERY soon! I am working on both a blog and a vlog. I am a bit more behind this week than I intended, but we've had some rough mental health days. Some highlights of our Daylesford trip were Lake Daylesford, watching the sunsets, seeing lizards and kangaroos, and eating some yummy food.
Bella (my mum's cat back in NZ) turned 16.
Benji has been taking his supplements for his hips and has been doing well, he doesn't seem to be limping as much and has more energy.
Luke's parents got their flight to Dubai before they head off to Europe for 6 weeks.
Luke and I have a traditional Indian wedding to attend in May so we've been trying to do some shopping for that.
I saw a hack on social media to fix soil for plants with Epsom Salts and Oats with a little bit of fresh soil, so I did that for my herb garden and replanted some herbs. They are still alive, so I am hoping that's a good sign!
We met one of Luke's friends puppy - Sesame.
We've been seeing a lot of cool birds around - Musk Lorikeets and Honey Eaters, but I haven't been able to get any photos.
We had lunch at Hector's Deli, which is a GREAT sandwich shop in Richmond.
I've been struggling a lot with insomnia and nightmares, like waking up shaking and not being able to get back to sleep so my sleep schedule is a bit out of whack. However, I did manage to wake up at 6:30AM every day while we were in Daylesford.
We tried a cider place in Daylesford and had a cider paddle and a mocktail paddle (so delish - but more about that in my travel blog).
It was ANZAC Day.
I have been doing crossword puzzles a lot more than I used to, I guess I'm channeling my late grandparents BUT I'm not that good at them, usually Luke finishes them when I get stuck AHA.
I got an email from someone wanting my buy my blog, which is a compliment but also this blog is literally my baby.
Things I am looking forward to in May are: Looking after Frankie for a few days a week, going to my friend's wedding, cooler weather, and watching TV shows like The Cheap Seats and Have You Been Paying Attention. I've also got a dentist appointment that I'm not looking forward to so hopefully nothing is wrong there. Oh, and I also want to have a meal at Three Blue Ducks!
Thanks for reading!

Argh, daylight saving time, a real pain in the ***.
I really enjoyed the new season of Daredevil as well, can't wait for part two. I love reading your life updates, sounds like you had a pretty good time in April. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like such a fun time at the Melbourne Comedy Festival! I love that you got front-row seats and got serenaded—what a moment! Gillian Cosgriff picking on you in song actually sounds kind of awesome. 😄
