Hi friends! Curious to know what I've been reading lately? My August & September 2026 Book Reviews are here!! I know, I missed an August one, but we had a massive trip in Canada, and I've just had so much on since we got back.
I'm up to 25 books read out of 50!! Wahoo! :D I'm sure I can speed-read my way to 50 by the end of the year (I hope, LOL).

Science's Biggest Oops - Ella Factfinder: Unfortunately, I got duped by AI with this book. I'm 90% certain it was written by AI, and I really need this to stop happening because I want to read stuff by actual real-life people!!! GRR. I can't find any proof of there being a person called Ella linked to the books, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was probably AI or at least some sort of pen name. The facts were kind of interesting, but it didn't grab my attention like some books do. I am going to give this a 4/10 because the world is very scary considering I am getting duped like this!! However, it did give me some interesting topics I could look up for my Freaky Friday Files, so that's a win.
Victoria's Most Haunted: Ghost Stories - Ian Gibbs: I bought this book from Munro's Bookstore in Victoria, BC - a really great bookstore IMO, and it's by one of the people who run the ghost tours in Victoria, so I thought that was pretty cool considering we did one while we were there! I love ghost stories. It kinda just reads as a summary of stuff, and I was hoping for a bit more humour sprinkled throughout, so I'm going to give this one a 7/10. What can I say? I like ghost stories.
Big Little Lies - Liane Moriarty: Tbh, this book took me a while to really get into. There are SOOOO many characters, and I definitely struggle with that for some reason. I don't know why; I think when I put a book down for a few days, I've forgotten who these 10 people are. Anyway, I got through it, and I can see why the TV show based on this book did well. I liked that it was set in Australia, and I liked the ending and how everything came together with a big reveal at the end (that typical media plot twist curve). However, it just took SO long to get there. TW for DV throughout the book, and I'm not sure if it was romanticised, but those bits were pretty hard to get through. I think it's worth a read, so I am going to rate this book a 6.5/10 as it had good character development. I am kind of interested in reading the sequel, Big Little Truths.
Deadly Women Volume 23 - Robert Keller: I am definitely a true crime fan, and I think it's interesting when there are women who commit crimes that are typically committed by men, but from a psychological perspective, motives are completely different. I thought this was a quick read for someone interested in examples of women who murder. It came up as recommended for me on my Kindle, so I thought I would give it a go. So quick to read, but personally, I think I like watching/listening to true crime more than reading it. I think this is a 6/10. Well written, easy to comprehend, but there's not much more analysis behind the events. I guess I am a sucker for analysis attached to a summary.
Thank you for reading! I've also just started the 4th book in the Tracker series, "Hunting Time" by Jeffery Deaver. I also enjoyed how the show got mentioned on Last Week Tonight, haha.
