Day 18 of "Figuring it Out" - Monday Motivations

Updated: Sep 26

Good afternoon everybody. Happy Monday! How are we going today? Feeling set up for the week? Enjoying the sunshine? I sure am enjoying that little bit of extra light in the evening with the beginning of daylight savings.

Today, I am working the 1- 9 shift which is probably the hardest shift because you are the last to start and the last to go home for the day, but at least they're relatively quiet. It's a bit of a struggle not having a proper routine when you have chronic health issues, but hey, it pays the bills. This morning I woke up feeling really awful, super nauseous, fatigued, and really dizzy. I still kinda feel like this but I think my body has just gone into survival mode so I can get through the week. The iron is really messing with me. When I've done a longer trial, I will go back to my doctor and look at alternative options, but this is probably the worst I have ever felt (and I've had a long road of struggling with IBS and other issues also). All I really want is my energy back and for my IBS symptoms to go back to minimal (like they were when I first moved to Aus). And also to be able to do regular exercise again because that's something that brought me so much joy.

This morning I made myself poached eggs on toast for brekkie and an iced latte. I also caught up on some errands that we missed doing in the weekend because we were away, such as some washing and tidying the kitchen. I also started watching a new ghost hunting YouTube channel "Watcher" with their video "Ghostly Guests of the Magnolia Hotel - Ghost Files". I haven't gotten very far into it but it seems good so far. Not as scary as some of the other YouTuber's ghostly encounters, but one to watch for sure. I'll watch some more of it this evening. I don't know why I'm so drawn to things about ghosts lately, I just find it fascinating. Even though I think I've had somewhat of "paranormal" experiences, I'm still skeptical and find myself looking for more scientific based explanations. But I really love watching the stuff. In fact, I love learning about creepy things in the world. I just find those sorts of things really fascinating.

I thought today to try and get back into more of a positive mindset, I'd post some Monday Motivation Tips (some of which have helped me in the past getting back into the swing of the work week).

  1. This is more of a Sunday evening tip, but making sure all your work gear is ready to go for Monday morning.

  2. Start the day off with a self-care shower, washing hair, shaving etc.

  3. Do a 10 minute morning motivation guided meditation. I quite like this "one".

  4. Have a really healthy nutritious breakfast with either a coffee or smoothie.

  5. Get outside for a 20 - 30 minute walk around your neigbourhood (take an umbrella if it's raining).

  6. Write a To Do List for the day and tick off items as you go throughout the day. I use a little list on the notes app of my phone and for some reason, I feel really good when everything gets ticked off.

  7. Write a gratitude list (doesn't have to be long, just 5 things that you are grateful for this Monday).

  8. Schedule in something to look forward to - a special dinner during the week, plan to watch your favourite show or read some of your book on your lunch break or in the evening. It could really be anything.

  9. Give someone else a compliment.

  10. Declutter your work space so that you are working in a minimalist environment with the least amount of clutter (unless you're brain works better in clutter, mine doesn't, that's for sure).

  11. Have a designated set of work clothes that you wear while at work - even on WFH days (I find this one hard too because I just want to be comfortable all the time).

  12. Make yourself fancy drinks throughout the day e.g., put fruit in your water bottle, grab some yummy teas etc.

So there you have it - some of my Monday motivation tips to start your week off with. I hope you enjoyed reading today's post and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Much love,

Ash xx

P.S I just realised I didn't ask a question for today! So today, I want to know "what's your favourite video game?" I quite like all the retro ones like Super Smash Bros and Yoshi's World back on the n64 but also a big fan of Pokemon go (bc nerd). Let me know in the comments below!
