Disturbing Wikipedia Pages You Shouldn't Read at Night Part 1

  • The Hands Resist Him - A Wikipedia page about a creepy painting created by Bill Stoneham in 1972. In the painting, there is a young boy and a girl doll standing in front of a glass door, and the door has hands pressed up against it (like coming from outside). You can see the image "here".

  • The Diary of Miss Idilia - This diary is the diary of a young 17-year-old girl who disappeared while on holiday with her family in the German Rhineland in 1851. After failing to find her, her parents returned home, and her remains were found at Lahneck Castle by some workers in 1860. The diary was found next to her. This diary contains information about her attempts at seeking help and starvation. I must also note here that there have been questions about this diary's legitimacy.

  • Murder of Junko Furuta - Junko was a 17-year-old high school student who was abd*cted, t*rtured, SA'd, and m*rdered by her classmates. The worst part about this case is that one of the perp's parents knew she was being held captive at their house and didn't do anything. They claimed they were "afraid" of their son. UGH. RIP Junko.

  • Murder of Sylvia Likens - 16-year-old Sylvia was m*rdered by her caregiver, the caregiver's children, and some neighbourhood friends in 1965. She was t*rtored and malnourished for 3 months leading up to this.

  • Genie (feral child) - I think this one is pretty well known, especially if you've done a psychology course anywhere. When Genie was around 20 months old, she was locked in a room by her father. She was severely ab*sed, forbidden to interact with anyone else, and tied up. During her childhood, she didn't develop any language skills, and authorities took her under their care when she was 13. She returned home at 18, then was given to foster care, where she regressed. We don't know anything about her since then.

  • The Toolbox Killers - Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris were two American serial k*llers (now deceased) who committed the m*rder of 5 teenage girls in Southern California over a 5-month period in the year 1979. They were labelled "The Toolbox Killers" because the items they used for their crimes were mostly items that would be found in a standard toolbox, such as pliers, sledgehammers, and ice picks.

  • Israel Keys - Keys was an American serial k*ller who m*rdered at least 3 people, and authorities believed that he committed at least 20 more crimes on top of that in the US from the 1990s - 2012s. In March 2012, he was arrested and unalived himself while awaiting trial.

  • Cotard's Syndome - A very rare mental disorder where a person holds a delusional belief that they are dead or do not exist.

  • Clinton Road (New Jersey) - Clinton Road is a road in New Jersey that has gained notoriety due to the many paranormal experiences people have had here. The road is also rumoured to be where professional k*llers hide bodies in the surrounding areas.

  • 1966 Rose-Mar College of Beauty sh**ting - On the 12th of November, 1966, an 18-year-old man named Robert Benjamin Smith sh*t and k*lled 5 people (4 women, 1 toddler) and injured 2 others at the Rose-Mar College of Beauty in Mesa, Arizona. It is considered to be the first copycat mass sh**ting as Smith indicated he wanted to k*ll more than Charles Whitman, who was the perpetrator of the University of Texas tower sh**ting.

Thank you for reading. Part 2 will be out next week!

Stay spooky!

This was such a fascinating story about the painting—thank you for sharing it! I had never heard of The Hands Resist Him before, but now I’m intrigued (and slightly creeped out). The idea that the painting could be haunted really got to me. I know for sure that if strange or bad things started happening around me, I wouldn’t want that painting anywhere near my home! The symbolism behind the hands, the doll, and the doorway is so eerie but thought-provoking. Definitely one of the most unusual art stories I’ve come across.

Thank you for stopping by! It's a very scary painting, for sure. It's interesting how objects can be considered "haunted".
