Hello everyone! Happy Fri-YAY! I haven't posted much this week due to us being away for the first half and then all my birthday stuff coming up. I'm hoping to get out a few food reviews and travel blog next week for you. Anyway, in this edition of Freaky Friday Files, we're going to be talking about the infamous "TV Man" - who was a guy back in 2019 that would leave old school television sets on people's front doorsteps, WHILE wearing a television set on his head (or a mask that looked like a TV). DAMN.

I remember having one of these TVs when I was younger (eek, I'm old).

The Unsolved Mystery of "TV Man"

Images of the man in question! These images were taken from the victim's ring cameras/CCTV.

A person in blue carries a large box on a porch at night. The background is dark with some foliage and a white railing visible.

Person with a computer monitor on head leaves an old TV on a porch at night. Background includes flowers and a dark yard.

Person in night vision on porch with bucket on head, standing near plants. The background is dark and surroundings are dimly lit.

In 2019, a mysterious man started to leave old school TVs on the doorsteps of his victims' homes (using the word victim makes it sound like he was a serial k*ller - I don't think he was, I think "troll" might be a better word). This happened around the 11th of August, 2019. A person (suspected male) was leaving TVs on people's front doorsteps in the middle of the night, while wearing a mask that was literally a TV on his head in the Hampshire area, Henrico County, Virginia. The man left over 50 TVs on people's doorsteps, and obviously, a lot of ring cameras caught him.

The Henrico Police Department believes that TV man is more than one person. However, a lot of media outlets claim that it was just one person dropping off the TVs (I can't really tell because of the crappy image quality). Some other articles have even said that the TV Man or TV Santa has done this before - in 2018, when they left around 20 TVs at people's houses.

Most people who have received a random TV believe it was more of a nuisance than a real crime and that it was most likely a prank/hoax of some sort. Police removed the TVs and took them to the local recycling centre. A win for recycling!

There is speculation that a 19-year-old was behind this prank - but the article doesn't really confirm it. You can read about the alleged suspect "here".

What do you think about all this? Was it just a harmless prank? If so, why was he doing it?

Stay safe out there!

Thanks for reading.

Ash xx
