Hello friends! Happy Thursday. I was trying to think of fresh blog ideas, and I stumbled across a blog post titled "me, in bullet points," and that's my inspiration for today's post - Me, In Bullet Points. We have a few new members of asheycakes.com and some more newsletter subscribers, so I thought I'd re-introduce myself. Hopefully, this post isn't too repetitive.
If you're interested, I send out weekly newsletters which include exclusive content, blogs of the week, recipes of the week, YouTube videos, and a blog round-up. It's kinda like a mini magazine. If you're interested, you can subscribe on the home page.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Me, In Bullet Points
I'm Ash, but my full name is Ashleigh. I don't like being called Ashleigh. I'm not really a fan of my name, and I've always preferred Ash.
I have no siblings, and often people say, "You don't seem like an only child." - I don't know if it's an insult or a compliment.
I'm a Kiwi who lives in Melbourne! I live with my partner Luke, who's Australian.
When I was little, I had so many different ideas for what I wanted to do with my life, and now I still don't know. Some examples are a model/actor, an SFX makeup artist, a detective, and a forensic psychologist. As an adult, I wanted to be a professor, but you need a PhD for that, and those are expensive.
I'm turning 30 this year, shudder.
I went to university at the University of Canterbury (UC) and I have an MA in Sociology (by research).
I feel really behind in life and jealous of people who seem to have it together.
I wanted to start doing content creation in high school, and I was talked out of it by others, and then I wanted to do it at university, but the same thing happened. I wish back then, I didn't care what people thought of me.
I'd love to go to culinary school one day.
I'm struggling with both my physical and mental health at the moment.
Benji is my best friend (my dog). I love animals so much.
Some days I struggle to leave the house. I get super bad anxiety, and other times I just feel unsafe in the neighbourhood we live in.
I like how I look with makeup on, but it just takes a lot of effort to put it on.
My guilty pleasures include Cosmopolitan magazines, reality TV like The Bachelor/Below Deck/Love Island, and also Freida McFadden novels, even though the last one I read really p*ssed me off.
I used to memorise long words to sound smart, but I really just liked learning big, long words.
I would never be able to give up cheese or chocolate.
I used to play the guitar, but I couldn't do it anymore. I don't know what happened to my favourite guitar either. One day following the CHCH earthquakes, I found my guitar had been smashed. It didn't make sense to have broken in the earthquakes, but that's really the only logical explanation.
When I was little, I went on the TV Show What Now in CHCH on Easter and I got SO much chocolate all over my face and nice t-shirt. It was embarrassing.
In high school, I was very Tumblr savvy and had A LOT of followers. I should have kept it up, but I made a pen pal, and for that friendship, I'm very grateful.
I'm terrified of ants and crabs.
My comfort TV show is Parks and Recreation.
When I was about 8, I got out of my dad's car and fell into the gutter. Literally, the grate wasn't on. I was stuck. Dad laughed at me, but I was terrified.
My personality type is "INFP," aka a Mediator. I don't know how true that is though.
I have a slipped disc (in my back). It usually doesn't bother me as long as I exercise.
I'm not good with surprises. Once, I ruined my own surprise birthday party by asking too many questions.
I am good at memorising birds. When my mum visited me in Melbourne, she asked me about all the birds, and I just had the answers. If I don't know, I tend to look it up. I also have lots of bird books, so that probably helps.
I love photography.
