My Current Obsessions - Part 6

  • I am loving the TV shows Person of Interest (which I've seen before, but Luke hasn't), The Celebrity Traitors UK, Below Deck Med (along with all the drama), The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins, and Widow's Bay.

  • Clean eating with a focus on anti-inflammatory foods (i.e., more of a Mediterranean diet approach), as we are still in a bit of limbo with health stuff, but I can control eating clean and exercising. I'm actually really enjoying the meal planning, and there are so many fun recipes to try! I think 80% healthy, 20% fun is important; I don't wanna push anyone into an ED of sorts. I am just listening to my body (I am definitely struggling a little with body image issues, but I just want to be the healthiest version of myself that I can).

  • Strength training (x 3 per week) + getting 10K steps a day. I love walking! And the good thing about strength training is that a lot of it you can do with weights and resistance bands seated/lying down on the floor, so it doesn't give me PEM or cause my heart rate to go too high (re the suspected POTS). Now I am only getting DOMS, which is a good thing. I'm currently using 2 x 3 kg dumbbells, 4kg resistance bands, a yoga ball, an ab roller, and a walking pad. Most of these things you can replicate gym stuff with (gyms are so expensive LOL, and we don't wanna hear misogynistic comments like the one on SNL). I'd love to be able to run, but it's just not something I've ever enjoyed.

  • Speaking of exercise, walking apps that pay you for steps via PayPal! I'll add in my referral links for them - WinWalk, Mooney, WeWard (ref code: FlexibleMagpie7434), and Macadam (ref code: ABN2PF).

  • Meditation right before I go to sleep. I've been doing "this one", which is a sleep meditation to enter into the hypnagogic state (which I think helps you lucid dream, but I've never achieved that). I really like this one, and I'll probably keep doing it.

  • Making "week in the life" Canva posts for my Instagram and TikTok; they are fun to do, and it's making me more intentional with my weeks and time.

  • I've started doing vanilla protein overnight oats instead of the chocolate ones, and it's been a game changer for my tummy! Much better digestion. I do 1/2 cup of rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, a couple of scoops of Greek Yoghurt, unsweetened almond milk, and a tsp of vanilla protein powder, and then I add cinnamon, berries, and walnuts in the morning. I make them in these cute "mason jars".

  • I've gone back to drinking iced vanilla lattes, and they are my little treat for the day! I also really like the fancy cold foam drinks from Bagel Community, and hopefully they come out with more flavours.

  • I always have to say Benji (duh).

  • Turning on the fairy lights for an extra bit of whimsy throughout the day/at night when I don't want the main light on.

  • I will forever love my Kindle and reading books + Goodreads recommends some really good books I wouldn't have found otherwise.

  • Making cosy "aesthetic" style YouTube vlogs instead of talking-head style ones. People seem to like them (I think?)

  • Going out for brunch during weekends. I have always loved brunch, and Melbourne has such a brunchy culture! We have a few fave spots nearby that are dog-friendly.

  • Canva in general. It's probably one of our more expensive monthly subscriptions, but both Luke and I use it religiously. It's so fun!

  • Getting our fresh produce (fruits and veges) from markets - so much cheaper and probably with fewer pesticides.

  • A really simple skincare routine: I have been using Mecca hyaluronic acid drops, Vitamin E toner from The Body Shop, SPF50 sunscreen, and Glow Lab moisturiser. My skin loves it! I am a firm believer that if you don't want to do any skincare, just make sure you wear sunscreen!!

  • The RBI subreddit on Reddit. It's just so interesting to read about what is happening in people's lives and how internet sleuths come together to help (side note - always make sure you check carbon monoxide levels if weird sh*t starts happening to you).

  • Face tan mist! It's a game changer for when I wanna look tan. I used it before we went to Canada, and my skin was very happy. I gave up on body fake tan pretty fast, as my skin tanned really easily while we were there.

Thank you for reading! Ash x
