My Current Obsessions - Part 4

  • Listening to a range of different music - I have not been listening to as much music as I should lately, and when I have the energy, I am doing little dance parties in my house by myself. When listening to music while working, I use my JBL over the head headphones. Hopefully that's not embarrassing.

  • Making silly chronic illness memes/reels for my Instagram and TikTok, and just content in general. You can check out my IG "here". Or my username is @asheycakes

  • Deli roast turkey, cheese, avocado, and cranberry sauce toasties - these are SO delicious. It's a shame that turkey is so expensive. But I LOVE how easy it is to use a sandwich press. Is turkey a super food? I feel good after eating it.

Grilled sandwich with turkey and cheese held above a wooden table. Background shows a pet crate and cabinets. Warm, homey setting.

  • Spicy Wedges - I make these with Cajun seasoning, paprika, turmeric, chili powder, cayenne pepper, chipotle seasoning, and salt and pepper. Once cooked, I pair it with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce.

Crispy potato wedges seasoned with spices on a white baking sheet, brown and golden with a charred texture, suggesting a savory dish.

  • Dessert charcuterie boards and food art. My mum started to do food art while we were in CHCH, and I thought it was cute, so I definitely want to do more of it.

Assorted sweets on a wooden board: candy canes, gummies, chocolate, wafers, cherries, and cookies. Bright, colorful, and inviting.

  • Chocolate milkshakes and vanilla iced lattes. Luke's parents gifted us a fancy KitchenAid blender for Christmas, so making drinks is fun! My favourite thing about the blender is that it has a clean function.

  • Making more anti-inflammatory meals and eating more of a vegetarian diet (again). We had dinner the other night with halloumi as the protein, and that was really yummy.

  • The Tetris game on my phone - yep, the same one as last time.

  • Showering less and washing my hair less.

  • Embracing my curly hair but making it look nice by adding in some extra curls and putting it up with a claw clip (inspired by Pam from The Office).

Woman with wavy hair and glasses smiling, hand on chin. Wearing green "Riders By Lee" shirt. Bright room with window and art on wall.

  • Rewatching The Office (US). I love anything mockumentary style.

  • Celebrating small wins.

  • Falling asleep before 10 PM.

  • Apple and cinnamon breakfast muffins. I had one on the plane back from CHCH, and it was SO yummy. I also sprinkle cinnamon on banana on toast (if I have that for breakfast).

  • Preshafruit Cold Pressed Apple and Raspberry Juice from Coles - it is so refreshing!

  • Obviously, reading still. I love my Kindle - it's so cool and yes, I'm kicking my 15-year-old self for not wanting one back then and complaining to my English teacher about it (sorry, Mr. Hewlett, if you're still around).

A person holds a Kindle showing book covers indoors. A TV, books, and green trees outside are visible. The scene is relaxed and well-lit.

  • Ty Knotts - the guy who does the voiceovers for Top 5's on YouTube. His voice is so nice to listen to for some reason (and I don't mean that in a creepy way).

  • My new orange shorts from Boohoo and my new handbag from there too (pictured below). I thought the top was a set, but the orange tones are off hahaha I feel dumb. Anyway, the shorts were only $11 and fit me perfectly - how good!

Orange floral top and shorts, black handbag on a bed with floral sheets. Casual and vibrant outfit laid out in a cozy setting.

  • Berry Weetbix Bites - idk why I've always loved these and have gone back to them as a breakfast cereal.

  • The website Atlas Obscura - I learned about it from someone I follow on YouTube, and it's the coolest website ever. I want to go to ALL the places. The website shows you where to find cool things in the place you're travelling to. I learned that Melbourne has a cow up a tree in Docklands that I've never noticed.

  • Learning about the different types of déjà vu- I want to make a blog post on this eventually.

  • Benji, of course (as always).

  • Swimming in the beach - I don't feel dizzy, and my back doesn't hurt. Although I do feel exhausted afterwards.

  • I haven't started this one yet, but I saw a woman make a "panic attack" bag for when she has a panic attack on the go, and I thought it was the best idea ever. I want to make one for when I'm anxious/having dysautonomia symptoms and have Vicks VapoRub, electrolytes, lollies, etc...

  • I think I've said this one before, but sheet face masks, they make me feel happy.

Thanks for reading! What's your current obsession?

I can see why so many of these obsessions made your list! I just added a few to try myself - and as a curly hair girl - I’m all about that one!
