Hi friends! Welcome back to asheycakes. This blog post is all about my current obsessions, ranging from TV shows and books to food, products, and general lifestyle items—I'm sharing them all with you here. It's Part 2! You can check out Part 1 "here" and yes, there probably is some overlap.

My Current Obsessions - Part 2

  • Kit Kat Mocha Coffee sachets - OMG so delicious. It's such a simple coffee sachet, but it tastes like a warm hug. I also like the Moccona Cadbury Mocha ones too.

  • Pastry Shops/Patisseries because I love all things pasty, especially croissants. I also really like getting plain croissants from the supermarket, then putting ham, cheese, and tomato in them (toasted), OR putting like a whole Kit Kat bar in there and it melting while it's in the oven. Delish.

  • Putting more effort into my IG reels, TikToks, and YouTube videos. I'm not sure if I'll go back to vlogs, but maybe I can do some mini vlogs on Instagram. YouTube has become sociology/scary stuff mainly.

  • My Kindle AND its new pretty floral case.

  • My weighted blanket (but I think Luke likes it more than me). My psychologist told me to get one to help with anxiety.

  • The TV show "The Four Seasons" with Tina Fey and Will Forte. So good.

  • Watching bloopers of comfort TV shows on YouTube, especially of Parks and Recreation. Also, the Good Hang with Amy Poehler episode with Adam Scott was so great, especially when they were fan-girling over Ben and Leslie. So cute.

  • Making silly content for Benji's Instagram and Benji, of course.

  • Leaving the house more!!!! Wooo.

  • Keeping up with the Good Reads challenges - such a good thing to do. I love little challenges like that, it's kinda the same feeling when you do something in a video game.

  • Saturday Night Live - it's become such a great comfort show for me, and it's my go-to if I am sad.

  • Finger Limes - I love finger limes. They are so tasty. Amazon has Finger Lime Soda, and I want to try it. I'm also really missing the finger lime chips you used to be able to get here.

  • Going out to eat more! Recently, we've been to Francis Winifred and Yarra Botanica. Check out my linked blogs over on Eats with Ash.

  • Getting donuts. Check out all the best Melbourne donut spots "here".

  • Watching unsolved mysteries on YouTube and any voiceovers with Ty Knotts. I've also recently found the channel "Glam&Gore" and Mykie, who runs the channel does videos where she goes through Zillow listings to find the spookiest houses in each American state, and it's very calming (weirdly).

  • The sleepy girl mocktail, which consists of cherry juice, prebiotic soda - I've been using Sodaly Raspberry, and magnesium powder. Make sure you get magnesium glycinate if you're an IBS girly like me (the other one can give you the runs LOL).

  • Sauerkraut - because fermented food for IBS, and I really like putting this in hot dogs or a fancy sandwich. It's weird, though, because I don't like cabbage that much.

  • Watching more stand-up comedy - it makes me so happy, and I'm finding lots more comedians that I enjoy watching. I'm loving Wil Anderson, Geraldine Hickey, Nath Valvo, and I watched Justin Willman's, and it was sooo funny lol.

  • Doing crosswords because I am secretly an old lady.

  • 10, 15, and 20 min HIIT workouts - they seem to work for me, and I am trying to do them 3-4 times a week. I do miss when I could go to the gym most days (but that was when IBS was in remission). Also, getting more steps in, more walks, but shorter, and walking around the house every so often while I work.

  • Eating more GF stuff again - mainly to help with IBS. Recently, Luke made me a GF pesto pasta, but we think it needed more pesto.

  • Writing thought journals (as part of my CBT therapy). Also, afternoon naps because I'm doing EMDR therapy, and it's exhausting. I have these "cute journals" for writing in.

  • A classic chips and dip combo. I really like the Smith's Chilli Crinkle Cut Chips.

  • Making silly predictions about things. This one is a bit stupid, I know, but it's fun. Like we recently had our landlords over to check something out (and I was like, I bet it's cause they don't like the new property manager), and guess what, they muttered to Luke that they didn't. I also thought they'd drive a truck, and Luke said they'd drive a little car, and I was right. There was something else, but I've forgotten it.

  • Canva, because I use it almost daily. I also wanna learn Procreate on my iPad.

  • Memes in general. Love a good meme.

  • Is it weird if I say my weekly newsletter? I really enjoy making it; I think it has a bit of a digital magazine vibe to it. You can subscribe to it on the home page. You get a weekly newsletter with exclusive content, a roundup of blog posts that week, and also blogs of the week, recipes of the week, YouTube video of the week (so fun recommendations).

  • Soliataire (terrible game to get addicted to LOL).

  • Satin Pyjamas, they feel so nice on my skin.

  • Sheet face masks for after a shower. I got a bundle of them off Amazon, and they lasted so long.

  • Licorice. It's good for IBS.

  • I've started researching more things about food photography because I'm not very good at that type of photography, so it's good to learn a new skill. I'm thinking of getting a food photography backdrop / flat lay.

You and my mom are the only people I've heard of that like sauerkraut. I just can't stand it! LOL I'm happy to hear you're getting out of the house more and I'll have to check out that Tina Fey show! I love her!

Haha yeah I mean I don't eat cabbage lol. I know a few people who like it but probably not for everyone. Good for us IBS folks. Thank you. Absolutely it's great

This was such a fun read! I love seeing what you’re currently obsessed with — the pastry and croissant ideas are making me hungry. Can’t wait to try some of these myself!

I just recently got a new cover for my Kindle, and I am loving it too! I love how I now can use it as a stand and not have to hold it all the time. I also loved my weight blanket. I don't use it much in the summer but those winter months...it is so comforting.

Love your newsletter too, always wondering what the new topic will be for your upcoming Freaky Friday Files. I think I should really get a weighted blanket, I keep seeing them everywhere.

Thanks for sharing!
