My 2011 Hate List - Is it still the same in 2024?

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! I don't know why I still have the Facebook memories button active because I cringe every time I see it but today, I opened it and came across my hate list written in 2011 so I thought I'd share it on the blog for ya'll to enjoy so here goes. At the end, I'll see if I still legitimately hate any of the things I wrote back then.

I also used to write A LOT back in high school and I know I write a lot now, but I wish I just kept writing.

Okay, here goes (edited for grammar/spelling)

This is my hate list. Don't diss (2011)

I'm only writing this 'cause it's 3am and that's when my hate comes out. Anyways, I better get to my point and write my hate list here.

  1. I hate it when people use text language. Only because it takes me so long to figure out. I don't use it because I think I'm going to forget English if I do.

  2. I hate it when people spell my name incorrectly, especially teachers.

  3. I hate that I have no siblings.

  4. I hate that people actually believe all that 2012 bullshit. It's like no, the world's not gonna end.

  5. I hate my scar on my forehead. It looks so stupid. I wish it would leave.

  6. I hate being yelled at, it makes me cry. Yes I am sensitive. That's just how I am okay.

  7. I hate it when people only talk about themselves. Like when you ask someone "how are you?" and they only say how they are and don't ask how you are. It makes me feel like they don't care about my feelings.

  8. I hate my hair so much, it's too curly and whenever I straighten it it never stays how I want it to.

  9. I hate dr*gs and how they ruin people's lives.

  10. I hate sympathy. I can't give it, I can only give empathy.

  11. I hate my feet, they remind me of octopuses.

  12. I hate Facebook, it's so addictive.

  13. I hate my dreams, somebody always d*es.

  14. I hate teenage relationships, they suck. I hate teenagers, they also suck.

  15. I hate babies, they are scary and I hate the thought of ever giving birth.

I feel like I was a pretty angry 15/16 year old. Anyway, let's see what I think now (as a 28-year-old). Can't believe I used to write this sh*t and put it on social media hahaha (and yes I understand the irony because now I have a blog).

  1. I don't mind when people use things like "idk" and "tbh" I guess I just got used to text language and shorthand as I grew up in the rise of technology and social media. It doesn't annoy me too much now except when people write things like "wuu2" and use 0 as an O.

  2. Yes, this one grinds my gears still, especially when my name is right there (and if you don't know, just write Ash).

  3. I'm indifferent - I like being a loner but it would also be nice to have someone who had the same experiences as me.

  4. I mean I'm not a fan of doomsday preppers so I guess it's still the same. I think instead of hate I find it interesting what people believe.

  5. I kinda like it now because you can't really see it and it makes for a good story - yep I ran into a wall, I was a dumb dumb.

  6. Don't like being yelled at but now I have the confidence to yell back if you yell at me so watch out, jk jk ;)

  7. This one just makes me sad now.

  8. Curly hair is still annoying, I still have no idea how to style it really.

  9. Indifferent to this one now, I can see pros and cons of certain dr*gs but also not a fan of them in general.

  10. I think I'm able to give both sympathy and empathy now - maybe I didn't quite understand the difference as a teenager but I do now.

  11. Still not a fan of my feet but once one of my toenails fell off on a hike because I wore the wrong shoes and that was really annoying to get it back to normal.

  12. Considering my life now revolves around social media and I wrote a MA thesis on social media, I don't think I can say I hate it anymore. I feel like other platforms are more addictive but I also think I have a good ratio of time spent online and time spent without social media if that makes sense. Like I can put my phone down in the other room and not check it for hours (only if I'm home though, outside I like having it on me).

  13. I don't hate my dreams anymore now that I have a secret project that involves talking about my dreams and that I write them down. I find them quite fascinating.

  14. Teenagers scare the living sh*t outta me.

  15. Babies aren't as scary, but the idea of giving birth and being pregnant still gives me the ick (I'd rather adopt and save someone than bring more people into the already overpopulated world). Also, can't I just live with all my rescue animals and alpacas? Hehe

Hope you enjoyed this little blog today!

Much love,

Ash xoxo
