Things That Are Just Chef's Kiss When You Have a Chronic Illness

  • When you eat a trigger food, and your stomach doesn't get upset later on (for me, apricots or too much dairy).

  • A whole week with no appointments and no reminder text messages.

  • When your energy levels match your plans, and you don't end up in a flare the next day.

  • A morning where you wake up feeling refreshed.

  • A nap that actually feels like rest.

  • A decent wheat bag/heat source.

  • Fluffy slippers. Soft clothing.

  • Taking compression socks off after a long day wearing them.

  • When someone says "I hope you're having a low symptom day today" rather than "get well soon".

  • Bubble baths - oh, how I miss having a bath!!

  • A medical professional who actually listens.

  • Pain-free days.

  • When your dog wants to lie with you when you're not feeling great.

  • Exercising and NOT experiencing PEMs (Post-Exertional Malaise).

  • Walking more than 5000 steps a day.

  • Swimming in the ocean.

  • When you meet someone with a similar struggle, and you instantly connect.

  • When someone does a chore/task you've been putting off for you without asking.

Thank you for reading!

Ash xx
