Hi friends! This blog post is dedicated to all the ways I've been adding more whimsy and joy into my life lately.

Whimsy Definition: "playfully quaint or fanciful behaviour or humour".

Why add more whimsy and joy into one's life, you might ask? Well, joy obviously makes us happy, and whimsy can make the mundane feel magical, it can make those everyday moments feel *extra special, and it just adds that extra playfulness to our lives.

Some other reasons for adding more whimsy into your life are as follows:

  • It can reduce stress and anxiety

  • It can boost your creativity and imagination

  • It can improve your mood

  • It encourages mindfulness and living in the moment

  • It increases a sense of adventure and wonder

  • It can help us with emotional resilience

  • It's just great when we live in a super stressful world

Some other ways to add more whimsy into your life could be:

  • Keeping bubbles by the door so you can blow bubbles on your walk (remember to keep animal safe ones)

  • Use a cute mug for your morning coffee/tea

  • Put stickers/rhinestones on everything

  • Wear bright coloured clothing

  • Create miniature worlds tucked away behind a cupboard door (thanks to my Aunt for this; she has a fairy world for her granddaughter)

  • Add googly eyes to random objects

  • Put up fairy lights/use dim lighting

  • Hide tiny rubber ducks for others to find (this is a fun social media trend, too)

  • Go on a colour walk - this is where you are given a colour and only take photos of that colour - great for dates/groups of friends/getting out of a rut

  • Skip down the street

  • Talk to the stars at night - even if you're just standing on your porch looking up

  • Touch trees and grass (yes, I mean literally)

  • Leave secret messages for others to find

  • Follow a butterfly on your next walk

  • When going to bed, say, "I'm off to dreamland"

What ways have you been adding whimsy into your life? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading.

Much love,
