Hi friends! Curious to find out what I've been reading this month? Well, check out my September & October 2025 book reviews!

I have put two months together because of some health issues (hope that's okay). I'll do my best to get back to monthly reviews soon.

September & October 2025 Book Reviews

  1. Hidden Pictures - Jason Rekulak: A lot of reviews for this book said that it was going to be transphobic in parts, but it didn't come across that way to me at all. It had themes of addiction, violence, and the supernatural (and a few others but I think those will spoil it). I really liked it, and I even read that the author was worried about the book coming across as transphobic, so he got some of his trans friends to read it and make sure it didn't. Obviously, everyone's experience is different, but I personally enjoyed this book. It was a good thriller/horror, and I didn't see any of the twists coming at the end (albeit there was a lot at the end). It's a good read if you like thrillers/mysteries/horror. I also enjoyed the pictures that were included in the book and the person who drew them is an epic artist. I rate this book a 7/10.

  2. The Final Twist - Jeffery Deaver (#3 Colter Shaw - Tracker series): This is the 3rd Tracker book I've read, and it was interesting to get some background information on what happened to Colter's Dad (as in the TV show, it's different). However, I felt like a lot of the storylines in this book didn't quite gel together. The first two were way better in my opinion, and frankly, I do prefer the TV show to the books (which isn't always the case for me). Nonetheless, I'll keep reading the series. I rate this a 6/10. I also can't help but compare Tracker to Reacher, and I don't think that's fair, so there's probably some bias here.

  3. 750 Mind Blowing Life Hacks you Never Knew!: An EZ Hacktastic list to up your + Health + Productivity + Cashflow + Comfort - Ivan Itsimple, Chu Hackman & M. Azing Hacks - I picked this book to read because I wanted something that would put me to sleep but also be kinda interesting to read/relatively easy to read. I learned a few things, BUT a lot of the life hacks were repeated multiple times throughout the book, and I constantly found myself saying, "You said that on X page". It didn't feel like it was proofread at all and kinda read like a bad Buzzfeed article. A good, quick read, but nothing special, so a 4/10 for me.

  4. No Silly Questions: The Daily Aus explains how the world works - Zara Seidler & Sam Koslowski: I always feel so up myself whenever I start something with, "for context, I have a MA in Sociology, so I already knew a lot of the stuff that was in this book," but it's true in this case. I did still enjoy the read, and it gave me a good refresher on all the political jargon. I really wish a book like this existed when I was first starting uni - it would have been so helpful. It was easy to read, written well, and super concise, and I just enjoyed it. It would be good to read if you've just moved to Australia and don't know too much about the country, or if you're a student studying anything like sociology, political science, history, or anything similar. I give this book a 9/10.

  5. Crazy True Tales - A funny book for adults: Anecdotes and hilarious true stories. For the coffee table, bathroom, or as a conversation starter - Adam Douglas: This was another one of those books that I thought would be good to read before bed and learn some stuff. It's true that I did learn some stuff, but it was filled with terrible puns at the end of each anecdote and a lot of the book was about some quite scary stuff. I don't suggest reading this before bed. I give this a 5/10.

I also just got a few early birthday presents (most of them being books) so I've got a lot to read now, woo! And yes, I still need to get through that Life Admin Hacks book & I just started one of the books' Reese Witherspoon recommended - Society of Lies so keep an eye out for my November 2025 book reviews.

Thanks for reading!

Ash x

I didn't know the TV show Tracker was based on a book! I love the show so might have to check out the book series.
