Gratitude Diaries 5: Things I Am Currently Grateful For

1) I am grateful for living in Melbourne

Melbourne offers both a vibrant city atmosphere and so many nature spots tucked in little corners. There is something for everyone here. And, there's always something new to discover.

City skyline at night with colorful lights reflecting on a river. Tall buildings and a lit bridge in the background under a cloudy sky.

2) I am grateful that I saw a beautiful rainbow the other day from my balcony

Rainbows remind me that there is still magic in this world. I love it so much when there's a double rainbow, too, because it makes me nostalgic for the double rainbow guy (yes, millennial core).

A vibrant rainbow arcs over suburban houses and trees under a cloudy sky. A white van is parked on the street, creating a serene mood.

3) I am grateful that we are finally getting some answers about my health

It's going to be a long journey, but at least we're arriving somewhere, and I've started my strength training, so being able to exercise is a big win for me. The consensus at the moment is suspected POTS/OI and some issue with my blood (maybe a blood platelet disorder or similar).

4) I am grateful for all the nights I get to watch the sunset and all the mornings I wake up early enough for sunrise

Especially when I get to do long exposures or just take beautiful photos at golden hour.

Calm ocean at sunset with pink and purple sky. Rocky shoreline in the foreground and a few clouds scattered above, creating a tranquil scene.

5) I am grateful for hot cross buns at Easter Time (specifically, chocolate ones)

I saw that there are so many new flavours this year. We have yet to buy any, but I think we'll grab some for next weekend for sure.

6) I am grateful that it's raining today

This means that the grass is going to get greener and the cows will be happy.

7) I am grateful for cute little fruit platters

I made one last night when we had some friends over. It made me happy.

8) I am grateful for all the dogs and all the corgis

Especially Benji Bear. He is the best doggo - definitely my soul dog.

9) I am grateful for a successful freelancing career with my photography, blogs, and writing

10) I am grateful for all the travel I get to do

All the times I've been back home to NZ, all the travel around Australia I've done, and the travel coming up to Canada in August this year.

A coastal path curves along a rocky shoreline, surrounded by dense green forest. People walk on the path, with ships visible in the calm sea.

11) I am grateful for Fairy Gardens

I've been looking at them on Reddit's Fairy Gardens subreddit, and I want to make one. We don't have a place for one in our rental, but let's manifest owning a home and making projects like this!!

12) I am grateful for comfort TV shows

To help regulate my nervous system, I've started watching Parks and Recreation again. It's a great show. I also love The Office (US), The Paper, 30 Rock, SNL, and fingers crossed that Aussie gets The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins. Something about mockumentaries is just so soothing - maybe it's the breaking of the fourth wall and relatability.

Fun fact about Pawnee (the fictional place Parks and Rec is set) is that the map they used is based on the map of my hometown - Christchurch (Ōtautahi).

13) I am grateful for my exercise equipment

I am so happy that I've now got my walking pad, resistance bands, a yoga ball, and dumbbells. I miss having a free gym but I'm glad I've got all this stuff to help get me back into training.

Pink exercise mat with two red dumbbells, a pink yoga block, and a pink fabric on a wooden floor. Bright and energetic setting.

14) I am grateful for the most amazing clean drinking water

It makes it so much easier to drink heaps of water here.

15) I am grateful for my partner, Luke

At the moment, he is putting up with a lot, and I am very grateful for that.
