Hi friends! Welcome back to another monthly life update for September 2025! So what have Ashy, Benji, and Luke been up to this month?
If you've been keeping up with my social posts, then you'll know it's been a crazy ride for me, and my health situation is not fun.

September 2025 Life Updates
So first things first, let's talk about health updates. I finally did my blood tests, and my Iron & B12 levels are finally back to normal, woo! I still have to take my iron every second day to keep up my iron stores, but it's great news. However, I've been having some weird stuff going on (suspected POTS), so I've been referred to a POTS specialist as well as being referred to a haemotologist, as my bloods are very concerning. I wrote about it in detail "here". Everything is a bit rough at the moment. I'm also writing Substack posts about it, but I don't think anyone is reading them. A bit of an update on this situation - I saw the haemotologist and I'm being tested for myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). You can read more about that one "here". It's like a blood cancer that causes issues with your bloods that puts your whole body into a constant state of inflammation, like you have the flu every day. I'm going back to the haemtologist at the end of October, so I'll be sure to keep you all updated; it's just very scary. Please send good vibes my way. I'd like some answers so we know what to do moving forward.
Speaking of health stuff, I've bought a few things to help me along the way - a Garmin Venu 3s smartwatch, some symptom tracker diaries, and new electrolytes to try. I also want to get a walking pad, some compression socks, and some cold compress things. Compression socks will be my no. 1 priority for travelling.
We celebrated Father's Day at Chiba in Moonee Ponds with Luke's family. Moonee Ponds is one of my favourite suburbs in Melbourne.
I had a haircut and colour, and omg, it was an ordeal. I legit thought I was just having a tone and cut, but my hairdresser was like "nah, we're doing colour today" - we needed to do it, but I swear he said it would be the next one after that appointment. Anyway, my hair looks nice now. My next appointment is the day before my 30th birthday, so he said we can do some foils if the colour has faded. Speaking of that, I have no idea what we're going to do for my 30th.
Everything is finally fixed (the internal garage door that was making a racket in the wind & the gate near our garage). Hopefully, the wind doesn't get any worse.
The YouTube videos I put out are as follows: 13 of the MOST Haunted Hotels Around the World // The hardest video I've ever had to make // Health Updates + Getting back into vlogging // I kinda wanna make vlogs again to show my health journey and bring awareness to chronic health conditions.
The Freaky Friday Files I put out this month are as follows: A list of creepy facts // Thriller/Horror Book Recommendations // "Real" Life Paranormal Experiences //
Regarding reading and my monthly book reviews, because I have been so focused on my health stuff, I've decided to do a September and October 2025 combined book reviews post, so keep an eye out for that next month. At the moment, I think I have to listen to my body.
TV Shows that Luke and I have been enjoying are: Big Backyard Quiz (BBQ - an indigenous peoples show), The Amazing Race AU (Celeb Edition), Taskmaster UK & NZ, HYBPA?, The Cheap Seats, Talkin' "Bout Your Gen, and GoggleBox. We also watched a few movies - The Fall Guy, Bridesmaids, Wine Country, and I watched Sisters & The Wrong Paris on my own.
TV Shows that I have been enjoying are: Bodkin, Only Murders in the Building, and Morning Wars. I really like the little nods to NZ in Only Murders.

Unfortunately, Benji had a bit of a scare at the dog park one day, where another dog ended up biting his neck. We were so lucky, though, because he has so much neck floof that it saved him. I also ran and got him away from the other dog immediately, and the annoying thing is that the owner and the dog didn't leave the park straight away - she just leashed her dog. I think in that situation, they should leave the park. I was very anti-park for a while, but we've been back to that one now and had a great time.
We had a night in with some friends and got pizza and drank tea like old people, hehe.
Luke and I had brunch at a couple of places, including My Oh My in Richmond, Convoy in Moonee Ponds, and Saint Lloyd in Strathmore. We also spent a bit of time at Queens Park with Benji, who adores it there.
I've also found myself struggling a bit with derealisation/depersonalisation due to the health scare going on, and my psychologist said at the moment, it's a normal response to the situation, so we just acknowledge it for now. I'm also struggling because I can't really do as much as I used to be able to, and I think I hold myself to a really high standard. Just a leisurely walk on the beach can put my heart rate up to like 144.
Benji and Frankie had a play date after obedience school one day, which just turned into a nap time together, but it's good that they're spending time because they will be together at Christmas.
It was my mum's birth mum's birthday (yes, my mum was adopted).
We spent a bit of time at Coburg Lake exploring different areas we haven't gone to yet, and more time at the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail. I am finding that good places to go for walks for me are where there are benches. I don't always need to sit down, but I like having the option.
Luke's cricket season launch happened, so he's been super busy with a lot of that stuff.
The Brisbane Lions won the AFL Grand Final. Benji wanted the Geelong Cats to win, but psychic Benji didn't come through on that one. Luke spent the day with his parents watching the game. I stayed home.
I've been having some issues with bots on my blogs, and I haven't worked out where they're coming from, so it's really frustrating because it's impacting my revenue.
It's Luke and my 3-year anniversary on Tuesday (the 30th). We're not sure what we're going to do - we have a NZ friend coming over for lunch that day and we want to celebrate with an ice cream cake. It sounds silly, but I've never had an ice cream cake before. Luke's blocked out some time in his work day so we can have lunch with our kiwi friend and we want to go out for dinner sometime this week too.
We spent one afternoon down at Williamstown, and I really like it there. The beach is SOOO nice. And Benji was a massive celebrity - sooo many people stopped to say hi to him and talk to us. Also, ages ago we went and tried a cafe there called Pint of Milk and it's really good, you should check it out if you live near Newport/Williamstown. We went in the afternoon so it was closed, but I definitely want to go back there.
We got ice cream from Williamstown Icecreamery and Frozen Yoghurt Shop, and Augustus Gelatery. I think we're going to get an ice cream cake from Gelato Messina to celebrate our anniversary.
Thanks for reading!
Much love,
Ash xx
